About Me

My name is Kara Smith. I’m a Christian, a homeschooling mom, and a certified KY Master Naturalist. My husband and I have lived in Oldham County for over six years and together we raise our three young children. I have many years of experience working with and teaching children and I am currently completing my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.

I love nature and strongly believe that everyone should take the time to get to know the world around them. British educator Charlotte Mason said, “We were all meant to be naturalists, each in his degree, and it is inexcusable to live in a world so full of the marvels of plant and animal life and to care for none of these things.” 

I believe all people should work to educate themselves on the land and ecosystems around them. The more we know the better we can protect and conserve our communities. The most important thing is that we are always learning, no matter how old we are!

My content and workshops are for everyone, regardless of your beliefs, but Christian parents rest assured – I will never teach a lesson that goes against the truth of the Bible. Here, we believe nature is wonderful and amazing – but it is all God’s handiwork. I will never elevate nature above God, impose supernatural characteristics on nature, or teach things that contradict Scripture.
